Heya,
i just experienced a panic attack. I have them quite often but very mild. Today, i was expecting really bad marks for my GCSE science exams, so when i went down the stairs i thought i was going to throw up. At the end of the day, when i was told i got 3 A’s, i walked quickley out of the room where my friends and teachers where. When i got oustide, my throat closed up, my hands went sweaty, and i burst into tears. Luckly my friend caught me from falling to the floor. For about 2 misn after i cud barley breathe n my breath came in sharp gasps. It was so scary!!!!!! I wasnt upset with my marks i think, but it suddenly backfired which set me off!
Have you ever experienced something like this before???
Thanks!
My first one happened when my dad had slid into the ditch, and it freaked us out. Someone forced him off of a narrow road. I wouldn’t go past there in the school bus till I watched it pass safely. I’ve had them most of my life since then. There are little things that you can do to help yourself. One thing is yoga breathing. Deep breath in through your nose, out with your mouth. Also, keep something in your tummy when you feel like you might have a panic attack. Sometimes I put my hand up near my nose to keep from hyperventilating. I once got some mild tranquilizers from a doctor that helped also. (And watch your caffeine, very important!)
Has anyone had any bad affects or experiences using depression/social anxiety medication?
I’m a teen and these medications are said to have a risk of suicidal or homicidal thoughts. My mother approved of it, but has anyone had any bad experiences with it?
Also, which is the best to use or what did you use?
Honestly, I would seriously consider trying therapy before the medication. Therapy is apt to teach you the life skills to thrive without meds. It also does not have side effects. Talk to your mom about trying that first. If it doesn’t work, you can always go with the med option.
The best to try first is Prozac. It is the most gentle and fairly easy to stop taking.
For me, antidepressants were a bad experience. It turns out that I am bipolar, meaning ADs are the wrong meds for me.

On three or four occasions in his career as a psychoanalytic theoretician, Freud changed his mind on fundamental issues. Setting forth in rich detail Freud’s new theory of anxiety, Inhibitions, Symptoms and Anxiety (1926) is evidence for one of them. In rethinking his earlier work on the subject, Freud saw several types of anxiety at work in the mind and here argues that anxiety causes repression…
